Heifer International
Heifer International, located in Little Rock is an organization that specializes in the ending of poverty and hunger of rural areas in the world. Their mission is do to do this is by empowering families to turn hunger and poverty into hope and prosperity. Heifer also links communities with each other in order to create sustainable agriculture and commerce to areas with a long history of poverty.Soon, these families begin to gain sustainable incomes, and when this happens,it leads to opportunities that can advance their society. This includes ideas like building new schools, creating agricultural groups, forming community saving systems and forming small businesses.
Heifer International was there to help with the clean up in Haiti after the recent hurricane encounter they had. They deployed 120 aid workers to help 6,500 project families, who were affected by the aftermath of hurricane Matthew's destruction. Heifer's immediate goal is to provide food and water treatment tablets for those project families that affected by the storm.
Heifer shares partnerships with many businesses, some very common to most people, like Danone yogurt,Starbucks,The MasterCard Foundation,W.K. Kellogg foundation and Walmart. Like Heifer, these partners are also helping create an impact to end global poverty and hunger. For example,Star Bucks, for 40 years, has been dedicated to helping coffee farmers and their families.Heifer's international collaboration with Starbucks began in 2009. When Starbucks CEO,Howard Schultz, visited smallholder coffee farmers in Rwanda. Hearing the farmers heartfelt requests for dairy cows to provide them milk, better nutrition and better income to help provide for their families,Schultz and other Starbucks workers rallied together collaborated ways they could help to provide the farmers with the cows they so desperately needed. By 2014,Heifer was awarded with a Starbucks Foundation grant of $750,000. This money was going to be used to help fund the Mbozi Farmer Live hood improvement Project in Tanzania. This project was established to help provide dairy cows and training to improve live hoods in East Africa.
Overall, Heifer International is an engaged and committed organization that feels should be very entitled to ending poverty and helping people in need. This makes me think if I should start my own fundraiser. The idea of helping Haiti does cross my mind. When I was in elementary school, the school had us support a fundraiser to help support Haiti after the earthquake they were in a few years ago. They had a bottle, like the water bottles they have in offices, and we would fill them with pennies that they would use to help clean up.We could do something similar to this, but in a fun and creative way. Then, we can use this money to start a partnership with a school there, help build a school there or even go to the country ourselves and help them with our resources. Haiti goes through so much and it's a problem that can easily be fixed,if there were just more people in the world who cared, these people could be helped.

Research Modern Social Impact Source
Plastic surgery is defined as a biological based procedure involving the alteration and reforming of particular parts of the body. The idea behind the surgery was to create a way to help those who are victims of loss limbs or need of change on certain parts of the bodies that didn't operate like they should due to genetic disease or birth defect. These days most people do it to change their appearances just by pure lust or envy off of others who they believe "look better". TV models or the ones in magazines are idols for those who feel visibly inefficient because they compare their appearances to them and they want to become just like them. Physiologists say that it can also be a Psychological idea that occurs after a person first gets plastic surgery. The idea that they should take advantage of this new technology to make themselves look better. Surgeons say that there was an 44.9% increase in procedures as well as Botox, breast surgery and Liposuction between 2003 and 2004.
To know that something like this can take control of people in this manner is disturbing and in some way disrespectful to yourself. Consistent altering like this is like saying that you were born wrong or you created properly and that it take worldly sources to to correct those mistakes. All things considered These kinds of alterations are bad for your body overall and can lead to your body suffering sometimes fatal disease.
I think the cause for these problems are models and modeling agencies who falsely present themselves on billboards and TV and such. Many of these agencies use computer enhancing technology to change the appearances of their models so they look even more attractive in those pictures. Not many people know this and think it's actually possible to 100% copy these looks and believe plastic surgery is the answer. This Idea impacts many young people as they are mostly impressionable and will belive mostly anything.
Awareness programs and more curriculum geared towards this problem are the answer to stopping all of this. Once these truths about this idea reaches the young people of this generation, the lies of this subject will be that much closer to being vanquished.

If the world were a 100 people....
Earlier on I was asked to construct a If the world were a 100 people project. A school Project that was supposed to categorize the world population by how the majority was privileged through narrowing the entire population to 100 people. I created a survey and a video presenting my idea of this based on the statistics I collected through my survey. Three topics my survey covered that I thought were most important were gender, religion and parental status. I found these topics interesting because I feel they play a huge role for how people are privileged and how some people grow into the lifestyles they have. Gender affects people like this because gender nowadays affects crucial things like how you get employed or how people view you. And while sometimes it is true like with gender roles,it gets taken to an extreme that makes like extremely hard for anyone that gender. Religion has an even more fatal affect. In some countries,Religion determines whether someone lives or dies. In america,Islam is the top 3 hated religion because of it's frequent relation with terrorism. With this in mind,Muslims all over are persecuted. Parental status is also a factor because the parents affect the children. The status of the parents relationship affect the child or the person because the situation can determine how what the kid has access to. For example,if a kid only has one parent, then they don't have access to much because one parent won't be able to provide for their child as well as two parents.
The procedures to receive this data wasn't easy. First,a survey was required to be made along with having 100 participants taken. The link had to be posted on schoology,Facebook, and Instagram. All forms of available social media was used. I would frequently checked the results of my survey and there was a some shock. For one thing,There was a surprising amount of people who have been bullied in their lives. I was also shocked to see the amount of people who haven't considered drugs. The percentage difference was shockingly high, with 60.7% saying no but 39.3% yes. Overall this project is relevant to this society because it takes a portion of the worlds generic people and reveals how they are privileged compared to others. This is important to know because it informs the classroom community the average of things people are privileged for depending on gender, race, age and etc.
A project that can be used to create a similar purpose in Patricia McCormick's Sold is to research the culture in Lakshmi's original home, and divide the natives into categories from richest to poorest
