Research Social Construction of Gender Norms

Social Construction of Gender Norms is the portrayal of gender based stereotypes in everyday things like commercials, food, cars and so on. These stereotypes create the ideas that we define as sexist. For example,it's sexist to create commercial that portrays women as the main problem with poverty because it's saying that women are prone to making terrible mistakes in there time growing up like drugs and unsafe sex. Here's a better example.Your watching TV. The show your watching shows the women in it as individuals who are consistently playing damsel in distress or consistently needing the man's OK or dependent on him in order to get by. This scenario occurs a lot in fairy tails where the women is constantly being saved by a knight in shining armor. This idea shows that women are weak and need the help of a man to get on because they can't function on their own. https://www.bustle.com/articles/149098-5-fairy-tale-tropes-that-perpetuate-sexism :Source Honestly,I think the whole thing is stupid. Believe me,the last thing we need in this world is lack of inequality in gender. But you have some people down there who take it way to seriously. It's to the point these days where you really need to stop and ask yourself, "Is this really worth it". You've got women who think they are so sure they aren't helpless that they believe the best way to make a point is to run out in the army and get killed? I mean come on now, what's wrong with you ? I'm not saying women should be helpless and sit on the sidelines, but they need to know that there is a limit in trying to get a point across. This applies to men too, especially husbands, because any husband that sees their wife doing something crazy to show women aren't powerless, and supports it,is an idiot, and I'm not trying to offend anyone when I say this, but I need to say it as it is. As for women who believe they have something to prove,I don't care how much of an "Independent citizen" you think you are, getting yourself involved in a life or death situation just to prove you're not weak, isn't point worth trying to prove.I know the are those female soldiers and cops and do what they do because they want to help and they feel as if it's a passion of theirs, and that's good. There is nothing wrong with striving towards goal or a life long dream. But if do something stupid, get yourself involved in something that's going to affect more people than just you, all for proving an idea, you seriously need to check yourself. This problem doesn't really need a solution. To be quite honest it's not even a problem. Sexual discrimination is nothing but a theory created and supported by prideful people who want to make huge deal out of nothing. Sexism only qualifies as a problem when it prevents someone from getting a job, entering a public place or being able to feel comfortable around a certain group of people. And even then the people responsible for causing those kinds of problems can't necessarily be thrown in jail. They can be addressed and or warned about it. In business those people shouldn't be qualified to be in the employment position. But we can't stop them from coming up or thinking the way they think. If the "problem" of sexism affects a person that prevents them for a right everyone is entitled to,it should be regularly addressed to the proper authorities. There's no guarantee saying this will work, but it's all that can be done. Proving that one gender is superior enough to do something society says they can't won't help. Logical action needs to be taken.
